Lawyer Gets 3-Year Bankruptcy Court Ban for Repeated Misconduct

The US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado has suspended an attorney for three years over a pattern of misconduct in a single case, including encouraging clients to infect the Chapter 7 Trustee’s counsel with Covid.

Devon Michael Barclay and his law firm, Devon Barclay PC, were retained as bankruptcy counsel for debtors Matthew Jason Mennona and Nicole Marie Mennona. Barclay filed a joint voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code, initiating the case on the Mennonas’ behalf, in April of 2021.
