Proposed class actions over a June 2022 data breach against student-loan processor Nelnet Servicing LLC will be combined into a single proceeding to promote a fairer and more efficient result than individual suits, a federal court ruled.
The 23 lawsuits involve common questions of law and fact arising from Nelnet’s alleged failure to protect the personally identifiable information of student-loan borrowers, Magistrate Judge Cheryl R. Zwart of the US District Court for the District of Nebraska said in a Jan. 30 ruling.
