Transgender athletes can continue to participate in girls’ sports in Connecticut public schools after a federal trial court in Connecticut dismissed a challenge to the policy as moot.
The transgender students named in the complaint have graduated and there’s no showing that the plaintiffs will encounter competition by a transgender student, the court said.
Although it is “theoretically possible” that a transgender student could try to compete against the plaintiffs, there would be no “legally cognizable injury” to the plaintiffs unless a transgender student were to run in the same events and achieve substantially similar times, the court said.
