Law School Admission Council Hit With Race Discrimination Suit

A former diversity, equity, and inclusion manager is suing the Law School Admission Council for allegedly discriminating and retaliating against her because she’s Black.

LSAC violated federal, state, and local laws when it failed to promote and subsequently fired Ferris Smith after she complained of race discrimination within the organization, according to a complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Smith reported to Angela Winfield, LSAC’s vice president and chief diversity officer, in 2022 that Smith’s supervisor and then-DEI director was discriminating against her because of her race. That DEI director left the ...
