Larsen & Toubro Pays $4.65 Million to End US Workers’ Bias Suit

Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd. and a subsidiary agreed to pay $4.65 million to settle a class lawsuit alleging they terminated more qualified US workers in favor of South Asian visa holders.

Andrew Ragland, who leads the proposed class action, and the companies filed a joint motion Jan. 6 with the US District Court for the Southern District of New York seeking preliminary approval of the pact. The settlement will provide relief to roughly 460 workers injured by India-based information technology providers’ alleged pattern-or-practice of discrimination against non-South Asians and non-Indians, according to a memorandum of law accompanying the motion. ...
