Washington State can proceed with its ban on large-capacity magazines after the state’s highest court on Thursday ruled firearms that hold more than 10 rounds aren’t protected under the state or US Constitution.
Large-capacity magazines aren’t “arms” and don’t fall under the constitution’s right to bear arms, “nor is the right to purchase LCMs an ancillary right necessary to the realization of the core right to possess a firearm in self-defense,” Washington Supreme Court Associate Chief Justice Charles Johnson wrote for the 7-2 court.
