Landscape, Excavation Firm Owners Guilty of Employment Tax Fraud

Two Pennsylvania business owners have pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the US through attempts to evade paying employment taxes, according to the Justice Department Wednesday.

Theodore Shearba and Jennifer Cemini, owners of a landscaping and excavation business, failed to report income received from the business, and did not pay employment taxes the business owed to the IRS, the government said.

The pair deposited business gross receipt checks in nominee bank accounts to dodge IRS efforts to collect the unpaid employment taxes, the DOJ said. Shearba and Cemini caused a combined tax loss to the IRS of over $682,400, ...
