The US Department of Labor was denied a preliminary injunction over child labor allegations at a Mar-Jac Poultry of Alabama facility after a federal court said it failed to show the company knew it was employing underage workers.
A Labor investigation identified six minors allegedly working in prohibited positions at Mar-Jac’s Jasper, Ala. plant, so the department sought a “‘hot-goods’” injunction that would prohibit shipping goods produced in the 30 days prior to the alleged child labor violation.
