LA Times Suit Over IP-Address Tracking to Stay in Federal Court

A proposed class action alleging the Los Angeles Times collected information about website visitors in violation of California privacy laws will stay in federal court for now.

Plaintiff Taliah Mirmalek’s request to send the case back to state court failed because she didn’t show that enough Californians were in the proposed class to defeat the presumption in favor of federal jurisdiction over interstate class actions, Judge Charles R. Breyer of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Thursday.
