The Los Angeles Police Department used excessive force against protesters during immigration protests that surged in June, according to five new federal lawsuits.
“With deliberate indifference to the consequences,” Los Angeles gave poorly-trained officers launchers that shoot bullet-like projectiles, and failed to consistently adjust the weapons to fire accurately, the set of Tuesday complaints alleges.
As a result, swaths of protesters were put at risk of serious injury, according to the lawsuit in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
