Los Angeles county’s trial court will send a legislative analyst to Sacramento to press state lawmakers for support on issues facing the largest trial court in the US.
Presiding Judge Sergio C. Tapia II in a first-ever State of the Court address sounded the alarm Tuesday on crumbling and seismically unsafe courthouse infrastructure, surging civil case filings straining dockets, and declining public trust in the judiciary.
The Los Angeles court’s legislative analyst will lobby lawmakers as the court aims to push for more funding to address these and other issues.
