L.A. Prosecutor Sues DA Gascón Over Retaliation for Criticism

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón was hit with a whistleblower retaliation lawsuit—less than a week before voters will decide whether to re-elect him—alleging he passed over a prosecutor for a promotion because she criticized him to reporters.

Deputy District Attorney Tatiana Chahoian said in a complaint filed Thursday that Gascón sent armed officers to hand-deliver her a notice that she violated DA office media policy after she appeared on the news in February to criticize his encouragement to recommend light sentences for reckless driving cases.
