The Los Angeles Lakers’ lawsuit seeking to recover payouts from its insurer for losses caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and associated shutdowns was dismissed by a federal court in California.
The team sued Federal Insurance Co., a Chubb Ltd. affiliate, in March alleging the team’s claim, brought under an all-risk commercial property insurance policy for the Staples Center, was “curtly dismissed” by the insurer without investigation. The lawsuit came just days after the Sacramento Kings sued its insurance provider in a similar suit.
