The operators of cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin, along with tracing service provider Chainalysis, don’t have to face a proposed class action on behalf of people whose digital assets were stolen, a federal court ruled Monday.
Plaintiffs Sofia Reca and James Supples failed to adequately allege federal racketeering claims against Flashdot Ltd. and other entities and individuals operating KuCoin, where the stolen assets allegedly landed, said Judge Gregory H. Woods of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. They also didn’t show grounds for a racketeering claim against Chainalysis, which are dismissed with finality.
