Kronos, a provider of payroll and time-sheet software, will pay up to $6 million under a settlement preliminary approved Friday related to a ransomware attack that knocked off its systems for nearly a month.
Judge Susan Illston, of the US District Court for the Northern District of California, said she would approve the proposed settlement but questioned “why administrative costs are anticipated to be so large.” The $5.5 million nonrevisionary settlement, which UKG will supplement with an additional $500,000 to satisfy claims, estimates $1.2 million in administrative costs.
