Kootenai Health Beats Data Breach Suit on Jurisdictional Grounds

A proposed class action alleging Idaho-based Kootenai Health Inc. negligently failed to protect the personal information of more than 480,000 people that was exposed in a 2024 data breach won’t proceed in federal court.

The parties failed to provide evidence that there were enough non-citizens of Idaho in the proposed class to justify federal jurisdiction over the Idaho-focused lawsuit under the Class Action Fairness Act, Judge Amanda K. Brailsford of the US District Court for the District of Idaho said Wednesday.
