Kate Spade to Face Fraud Claims in Branded Cell Phone Case Row

Kate Spade failed to shed fraud and breach-of-contract claims brought by a cell phone case maker and its lender in a dispute over the fashion brand’s decision to end an agreement allowing Vinci to produce branded cell phone cases.

Vinci Brands LLC “sufficiently pleads” that it was fraudulently induced to prepare cases for the fall 2023 iPhone launch even though Kate Spade knew it wouldn’t continue with Vinci as licensee, Judge Lorna G. Schofield of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said Monday.
