Kaiser Must Defend Doctor’s Fraud, Privacy Suit Over LGBTQ Probe

Kaiser Permanente must defend a doctor’s lawsuit accusing it of holding him against his will and using blood and urine draws during a medical emergency for employment purposes, a California judge ruled Thursday.

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard Ulmer ruled the plaintiff, identified as Dr. Doe, sufficiently alleged violation of the California Medical Information Act, privacy rights, fraud, and other claims.

Doe’s case stems from allegations that a number of Kaiser’s LGBTQ+ physician leaders were investigated in 2018 amid claims of sexual workplace misconduct and substance use.
