The Justice Department sued the District of Columbia in federal court Monday over registration restrictions on the AR-15 and other firearms, alleging that the restrictions violate the Second Amendment right to bear arms.
A city prohibition on registering the AR-15 and other semi-automatic weapons is unconstitutional, the agency alleged in a complaint against the city, its police chief, and police department in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
