Judges Press Ohio Lawyer on Gender-Affirming Care Ban for Minors

An Ohio appeals court judge on Wednesday pressed the state’s solicitor general on how a Republican-backed law banning gender-affirming care for minors comports with existing regulations and state constitutional amendment that gives citizens the freedom to make their own healthcare decisions.

Michael C. Mentel, the presiding judge on the Columbus-based Ohio Court of Appeals, Tenth District, asked Solicitor General T. Elliot Gaiser multiple questions about how the law comports with the amendment and regulations that doctors must follow lest they face discipline for malpractice.
