Seventh Circuit Probes if Samsung Targeted Indiana in Burn Suit

South Korean battery maker Samsung SDI Co. faced a panel of Seventh Circuit judges who indicated Wednesday that additional information may be needed to determine whether it’s subject to a vape battery burn suit in Indiana.

At issue is whether Samsung SDI’s Indiana activities are closely enough linked to the plaintiffs’ injuries to make specific personal jurisdiction in the state proper.

The plaintiff’s attorney, Alisa Tiwari with Gupta Wessler, argued that the suit is sufficiently related to Samsung’s contacts with Indiana under the US Supreme Court’s decision in Ford Motor Co. v. Montana Eighth Judicial District Court.
