Judge Presiding Over Ozy Media Trial Refuses Recusal Request (1)

The judge who presided over the recent trial of Ozy Media Inc. and its co-founder Carlos Watson declined to recuse himself from the matter on Tuesday, calling the belated, foreclosed motion “long on innuendo but decidedly short on substance.”

The October 2024 motion—filed months after a jury found Watson and his company guilty of wire and securities fraud, and Watson also guilty of aggravated identity theft—argued that Judge Eric R. Komitee‘s interest in certain diversified investment funds created a financial conflict warranting his recusal.
