A New York judge rewrote the description of the state’s abortion rights ballot measure to ensure it complies with state law that requires ballot measures to be written in clear, plain language.
Albany County Supreme Court Judge David Weinstein on Friday issued an order directing New York State’s Board of Elections to use his revised wording, coming a little more than a week after attorneys on both sides of the dispute said they prefer the judge not rewrite the measure’s description himself to fix concerns about the readability of the text.
