Judge Tosses All MOVEit Suits Filed Before Cl0p Published Data

Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union and Athene Annuity and Life Company convinced a federal court to dismiss suits against them related to a hacking incident in which a cybercriminal group published data from Progress Software Corp.'s MOVEit managed file transfer system.

Hacker group Cl0p attacked Progress starting in May 2023, but didn’t disclose data from the widely used system until Aug. 15 of that year. Any lawsuit filed before that date, including those against Franklin Mint and Athene, can’t plausibly connect harm to that data breach and must be dismissed, Judge Allison D. Burroughs said Feb. 6.
