A federal judge expects to promptly rule that a class of noncitizens detained in Massachusetts deserve a bond hearing, providing relief as doubts in a California case with nationwide reach have stunted efforts to release detainees.
At a hearing Wednesday, Judge Patti B. Saris said she will “likely” grant final judgment to a class she certified of immigration detainees in Massachusetts the government has claimed are ineligible for a bond hearing under a July policy change at the US Department of Homeland Security.
