Judge Blocks US Officials From Firing Voice of America Director

Kari Lake and other top officials at the US Agency for Global Media are barred from removing Voice of America Director Michael Abramowitz, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

Lake lacks the authority to remove Abramowitz without a majority vote from the International Broadcasting Advisory Board—six members of which were removed by President Donald Trump in January—Senior Judge Royce C. Lamberth wrote in an opinion for the US District Court for the District of Columbia. The Secretary of State is automatically designated as the board’s seventh member, the judge said.
