JetBlue Crewmember Can Proceed With Hostile Environment Claim

A JetBlue Airways Corp. inflight crewmember can pursue her claims that the company caused a hostile work environment by not taking appropriate action in response to alleged sexual harassment by a co-worker, a federal court said.

Shauna Payne contends that another crewmember sexually assaulted her when he hugged her and pulled her off of an elevator during a layover, trying to drag her to his hotel room. The company’s response to the incident was inadequate, Payne said.

A reasonable jury could find that JetBlue violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by not taking appropriate remedial action, ...
