J&J Sunscreen Buyers Seek Nod for Deal Offering Refunds, Testing

Purchasers of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. sunscreens that were recalled because of possible benzene contamination seek a Florida federal court’s first nod for a deal that includes full refunds on recalled products, vouchers toward future product purchases, and new testing procedures.

A spate of proposed class actions followed a May report by online pharmacy Valisure, which detected benzene in several brands and batches of sunscreen, including the J&J unit’s Aveeno and Neutrogena brands. The litigation was consolidated in the Southern District of Florida.
