J&J Says Tylenol Titanium Dioxide Suit ‘Dubious,’ Preempted

A Tylenol consumer’s allegations that Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. hides the risks of the color additive titanium dioxide are “dubious at best,” but her proposed class suit is barred by federal law in any event, the company said.

Valerie Morrison sued JJCI in the US District Court for the Southern District of California. She alleges that titanium dioxide accumulates in the human body and can harm the liver, spleen, kidney, brain, and lungs.

Although Tylenol products disclose the ingredient on their labels, J&J omits risk information, making safety representations deceptive, she says.
