IRS Violated Privacy in Coinbase Summons Dispute, Groups Argue

The First Circuit should allow a cryptocurrency user’s suit against the IRS to proceed because the agency violated his right to privacy following the seizure of his records from crypto exchange Coinbase, several conservative and crypto groups told the appeals court.

The conservative National Taxpayers Union Foundation was among several organizations calling on the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit to reverse a May dismissal by a New Hampshire federal district court of James Harper’s suit on an IRS demand for his cryptocurrency records.
