Invitae Creditors Oppose Company’s Retention of Kirkland & Ellis

A group of Invitae Corp.'s creditors have objected to the genetic testing company’s application to retain Kirkland & Ellis LLP to represent Invitae in bankruptcy proceedings, saying the law firm has conflicts of interest.

Invitae, a genetic-testing company with backers including Softbank Group Corp., filed for bankruptcy earlier this year as the DNA testing industry struggles to regain investor interest following a pandemic-era boom.

In March, the US Trustee Office appointed a committee of unsecured Invitae creditors, consisting of Wilmington Savings Fund Society, Federal Savings Bank, Chimetech Holding Ltd, and Workday, Inc.
