Interpublic Unit Ex-Exec Gets Four-Year Embezzlement Sentence

Frank Okunak, a former executive at global public relations firm Weber Shandwick, part of the Interpublic Group of Companies, was sentenced to more than four years in prison after pleading guilty to embezzlement.

The sentence handed down Tuesday by the US District Court for the Southern District of New York is on top of the $10.8 million forfeiture and and $16 million restitution Okunak agreed to at the time of his guilty plea in July.

A parallel civil suit by the Securities and Exchange Commission ended in August.
