International Vitamin Corp. will pay $22,865,055 to the United States to resolve claims that it misclassified 32 of its products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule to avoid customs duties and didn’t pay back duties even after correcting the misclassifications, the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said Monday.
IVC admitted to using HTS classifications between 2015 and 2019 for 32 products it imported from China that carried duty-free rates that would have been subject to the payment of duties, according to the Justice Department.
