Intellectual Property Firm Says Site Impersonates Its Attorneys

Greer Burns & Crain Ltd says the operators of GBCS.law are impersonating the intellectual property law firm’s attorneys in an effort to release court-ordered asset restraints imposed on certain defendants in their cases.

The firm alleges the website’s operators are using its trademarks in connection with fraudulent legal services, creating a false designation of origin and misrepresentation of fact in violation of the Lanham Act. And the firm says the website’s operators have set up email accounts with the domain name to impersonate GBC employees, including at least one attorney, in violation of the Illinois Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act, ...
