Intel Defeats Engineer’s Bid to Toss Unassigned-Patent Dispute

Intel Corp. can pursue allegations that an engineer developed technology while working for the company and patented it for his personal benefit after fighting off the ex-employee’s dismissal attempt.

The engineer argued that the US District Court for the District of New Jersey lacked jurisdiction over him. But there’s actually specific personal jurisdiction because he had sufficient contacts with the New Jersey forum, the court said Tuesday in an unpublished opinion.
