Inspire Brands Facing Litigation Over ‘Cookie Banner’ Promises

A consumer with privacy claims against Inspire Brands Inc. over online surveillance tools on its fast-food restaurant websites has asked a federal judge to confirm he can pursue his claims in court rather than before an arbitrator.

Plaintiff Benjamin de Ayora plans to file a class action alleging that Inspire Brands installed cookies on his computer in violation of its promise that consumers could choose to visit its websites without being tracked, he said in a petition filed April 25 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
