Inova Health Care Sued Over Data Sharing With Google, Facebook

Inova Health Care Services shared the personal health information of patients with Google Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of its privacy promises and of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, a proposed federal class action said.

Pedro Lugo alleged that Inova installed “pixel” technology from Google and Facebook on its website and patient portal, allowing the social media companies to record their interactions there without their knowledge or consent, and gather information for the purpose of delivering advertising to them.
