InMobi Can’t Shake Adtech Privacy Suit Over Mobile App Tracking

InMobi Pte Ltd. failed to convince a federal court to dismiss a suit that alleged its software development kit collects data on mobile app users in violation of the California Invasion of Privacy Act.

Plaintiff James Caldwell had a reasonable expectation of privacy in the data InMobi may have collected from the dating app he used, and it couldn’t be determined at this stage whether the tracking was highly offensive, the court said.

Caldwell also sufficiently alleged that InMobi operates like a pen register, Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín said for the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
