Industrial Scientific Hit With Lawsuit Over 2023 Data Breach

Pennsylvania-based gas detection services provider Industrial Scientific Corp. failed to protect customers’ personal information that was exposed in a 2023 data breach, a proposed federal class action said.

Lead plaintiff Jennifer Nelson alleged that the company breached its duties under common law, contract law, state and federal statutory law, and industry standards to implement reasonable and adequate data-security measures and provide timely notice of the breach.

Information exposed in the breach included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, birth-certificate numbers, financial information, and health-insurance information, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US ...
