Indiana Transgender Care Ban Mostly Paused by Federal Court

Indiana officials can’t enforce a ban on puberty blocking drugs and cross-sex hormones intended to provide minors with gender-affirming care, at least while awaiting a decision on the law’s validity, a federal court said.

A proposed class, led by four transgender minors, their parents, a doctor, and a medical practice, showed some likelihood of succeeding on claims that the ban violates their equal protection and free speech rights, the US District Court for the Southern District of Indiana said June 16.
