Indiana Sues TikTok Over Content Sent to Kids, Data Sharing (1)

TikTok Inc. provides inappropriate content for minors and allows the government of China access to their personal information, contradicting its in-app promises and public statements, two new lawsuits from the state of Indiana said.

The lawsuits come amid increasing pressure from US Congress and state attorneys general over the company’s content-moderation and data-protecton practices—and its relationship with authorities in China.

“The TikTok app is a malicious and menacing threat unleashed on unsuspecting Indiana consumers by a Chinese company that knows full well the harms it inflicts on users,” Attorney General Todd Rokita said in a statement Wednesday announcing the filings. ...
