Indiana filed a HIPAA enforcement lawsuit alleging that Apria Healthcare LLC failed to comply with federal and state data-security laws in connection with data breaches from 2019-2021 that exposed the sensitive health information of nearly 1.9 million people.
Apria, a provider of at-home healthcare products and services, failed to maintain reasonable data security procedures, monitor its systems, or detect subsequent intrusions after the initial breaches occurred, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
