An Illinois state senator took the stand in his own federal bribery trial Wednesday, and testified he never intended to take any money from a red-light camera executive who was secretly working as an FBI mole.
“From the first meeting with me and him alone, I felt a bad vibe,” Sen. Emil Jones III (D) said of Omar Maani. “And I knew I was never going to take any donations from him after he kept talking about concealment and all that stuff.”
