Illinois Judge Gives Disgraced Lawyer Girardi His Own Trial

An Illinois federal judge on Friday removed disbarred lawyer Thomas V. Girardi from a scheduled multi-defendant trial so the disgraced attorney can have a trial of his own.

Judge Mary M. Rowland of the US District for the Northern District of Illinois set March 3 as the trial date of Girardi’s co-defendants but severed Girardi from that case, assigning him to a separate trial to begin at a date to be determined in the future.

“What a dispute over a trial date. Good God,” an exasperated Rowland said before settling the matter.
