The license of the law clerk to an Illinois Appellate Court judge should be suspended because he repeatedly lied about his legal credentials, a state disciplinary lawyer said Friday.
Imposing a one-year suspension on law clerk Scott Jacobson is justified, Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission lawyer Steven Splitt argued before a commission review board. In addition to telling “lie after lie after lie,” Jacobson has never fully admitted to making the false statements and shown no remorse for his behavior, Splitt said. Those aggravating elements demand a one-year suspension, he said.
