IEC Group Defeats Consumer Class Action Over 2022 Data Breach

Health-insurance plan administrator IEC Group Inc. defeated a proposed class action alleging it negligently failed to protect the personal information of more than 74,000 people exposed in a 2022 data breach.

The lead plaintiffs failed to allege concrete injuries sufficient to confer standing to sue in federal court, Judge Amanda K. Brailsford of the US District Court for the District of Idaho said Thursday.

Brailsford granted IEC Group’s motion to dismiss with prejudice.
