A new Idaho law that makes it a crime for adults to help minors travel to other states for abortion care without their parents’ knowledge and consent is unconstitutional, a complaint filed in federal court Tuesday says.
The law is vague, doesn’t clearly describe the conduct it outlaws, infringes on the federal constitutional right to interstate travel, and impedes First Amendment rights to speak about abortion and engage in expressive conduct, an individual and two groups that routinely help minors find reproductive care told the US District Court for the District of Idaho.
