Idaho Must Pause Use of Immigration Status to Deny HIV Treatment

Idaho is temporarily blocked from enforcing a law that requires immigration status verification for an applicant to receive HIV benefits under a federally funded program.

If Idaho’s law becomes effective, it will likely impede the efficacy of Congress’ goals under the federally-funded program, the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, and US Department of Health and Human Services guidance, said Judge Amanda K. Brailsford for the US District Court for the District of Idaho.
