ICE Must Defend Suit Over Rule Blocking Detainee Info Disclosure

Federal immigration authorities failed to convince a federal judge to toss a civil rights group’s challenge to a 2003 rule barring state and local jails from disclosing information about individuals they detain on behalf of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan plausibly alleged a concrete injury “that is substantially likely to reoccur,” Judge Amir H. Ali of the US District Court for the District of Columbia said Thursday.
