Hyundai Trims Claims in Kona Transmission Defect Class Action

Hyundai Motor America convinced a federal judge to dismiss claims the automaker failed to disclose a defect with the company’s Intelligent Variable Automatic Transmission in its 2022 Kona SUV.

Patricia Donadio, the named plaintiff in a class action alleging the transmission unexpectedly disengages, didn’t plausibly allege Hyundai would have known about the defect before she bought her vehicle in November 2021, the US District Court for the Central District of California said Monday.
